The steamed chinese bao buns: Have you ever had the pleasure of trying steamed chinese bao buns? They are incredibly soft. Have a texture that comes from steaming. Unlike breads they don’t have a crispy exterior or the usual color. They make up for it with their delightful sweetness and deliciousness! To whip up a batch of these treats you’ll need a steamer. I highly recommend using a bamboo steamer as it allows you to savor flavors from the East without needing to travel there. I’m thrilled to share my recipe, for steamed chinese bao buns with you; they’re perfect, as an appetizer to impress your guests. So lets get cooking!
They can be filled with fish such as salmon and tuna or any kind of meat, or chicken, in short they can be served with almost anything.
Recipe for steamed chinese bao buns - recipe for 4 people:
Ingredients:
- 560 grams of sifted
- flour
- 11 grams of dry yeast
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- 30 grams of sugar
- 320 grams of milk
- 30 grams of vegetable oil
How to make steamed chinese bao buns
- In the bowl of the mixer put the flour, yeast, sugar, and mix to obtain a uniform dry mixture.
- Add the milk and oil to the bowl.
- Turn on the mixer at low speed for a minute.
- Add the salt to the mixture.
- Increase the speed of the mixer to medium speed for 6 minutes.
- Place the dough in a bowl, cover with plastic wrap and let it rise for an hour to an hour and a half or until it doubles in volume.
- Roll out the dough to a thickness of half a centimeter.
- Using a glass, divide the dough into perfect circles.
- Spray a thin layer on the circles using an oil sprayer and fold them in the middle.
- Gently press the edge of the dough with a rolling pin.
- Place the steamer in a pot filled with boiling water.
- Place the dough in the steamer.
- Steam the dough for 7 minutes.
- Fill the dough with things you like.
